One Dog Shy

Our house is one dog shy for a couple of months. We delivered Zanna the Wonder Pup to her hunter trainer on Saturday. She was so cute – at first, a little shy, but not so shy she couldn’t check everything out. She got to see her Mom, and two of her siblings. This is an important part of having a hunting dog, but it was sure hard to drop her off and leave her! We'll miss that little chica.

Here are some pictures of her driving stance. LaToya the Sequoia has a console between the driver and passenger seats, and this has become Zanna’s “place”. She rode and slept on that console, between us, the entire trip. Here's a picture - pardon the Crackberry quality.

It was so funny when ThatManILove came through the door Christmas Eve – Zanna didn’t bark at him. She went right up to him and started jumping up on him, excited to see him. Both ThatManILove and I were SO pleased. Even though she’d only been around him for a couple of weeks before he left for the PA, she remembered. Dogs are amazing.

Saturday night, we met John & Suzan, Gilbert & Sandra (Sandra’s a lurker on this blog, so y’all shout out to her!) for Mexican food at Grapevine, then went to our hotel. We arose bright and early yesterday morning, and went to Love Field to catch our flight to the PA. Which we did, barely. I forgot to allow for the huge holiday travel and associated bag check lines. Eeeeek! We boarded the plane with only 10 minutes to spare. Thank God, that's good enough for Southwest Airlines!
With only a little drama at Chicago (we pulled away from the airport, only to pull right back in and deplane due to a mechanical failure, then change planes entirely), we were soon on our way to the PA. (Southwest Airlines Seriously Rocks. Just saying. It would have taken Crapinental 2 days to get us out of that airport, and they would have blamed that mechanical failure on God's Will or weather, no refunds, no boarding, sorry.) We arrived in Pittsburgh around 6 p.m., got our baggage, and went to supper at Outback.

And now, we’re in Clearfield, PA. We’re going to pack up ThatManILove’s things and ship some home. In the next couple of days, we’ll be driving back to Texas, where we’ll celebrate our anniversary.

And for those inquiring minds that want to know, are ThatManILove and I Sync’d up? Oh, yes. And we're glad to finally be together again. All is well in our world.

All is well.

Awww that is so cute!!!! I love it! Dogs are the BEST. Even though I have cats, I wish I could have a house full of doggies too.

She is so cute! Although I'm sure you don't wanna hear that about your hunting dog. LOL

One time I taught my dad's hunting dog to shake hands and when he took her hunting, she ran up to everybody wanting to shake. LOL I wasn't allowed to "train" the dogs anymore.

Carolina Girl - they are great. I can't imagine my life without these dogs.

Tiffany - she is a cutie! And Zanna not only shakes, she will give you 5! You can train my dogs anytime. Our trainers want the dogs obedience trained before they get them for hunter training.

It's very GOOD that everything is right in your world...what a great way to start 2009! As long as you've "packed" that is lol. Have a great one!

I totally understand the "syncing" deal. It was especially hard for me when the kids were still home...when dad was gone, I was the supreme authority, but when he got home, abdicating was sometimes a little dificil! (For all of us!)

It is still sometimes funky around here, particularly a day or two before he leaves on an extended trip as I am stretching my "alone" muscles and getting into total decision making on my own mode...not my favorite thing. It sometimes takes me a week to "sync up" when TBO gets back.

I have talked to several women whose hubbies were in the military and they have the same issues when hubby is on TDY or overseas and they are the ones left "in charge" while this is going on.

I have discovered, too, that I am learning not to spazz out when things happen now. I am stronger than I think, although I sure do miss TBO while he's gone.

Out of that entire post you barely mentioned mexican Food and now all I want to do is eat Tamales. Damn food addiction.

I have a huge affection for hunting dogs as the first book I can remember reading as a kid was 'Where The Red fern Grows"

Glad you are all together.
