The Game Warden's Coming! The Game Warden's Coming!

The first dove season in Texas runs from September 1st to October 25th. I pay for a yearly dove lease from a local gentleman named Earl. Several people are on this set of leases; it's a really neat deal. You get several places to go hunt, all for a small fee. You may see another hunter on the lease, but that's part of the deal, and usually, you know him. It's a bargain, and I lease this same land every year.

Today, I received an e-mail from Earl's office and I cracked up.

GUYS, (WED 28 OCT)

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON’T KNOW…..DOVE SEASON IS OVER, IT ENDED SUNDAY THE 25 OF OCT……THERE WERE HUNTERS ON OUR 420 FIELD THIS AM. ACCORDING TO THE HUNTERS TO THE WEST OF US…..WHO WERE ALSO OUT HUNTING….AFTER THE SEASON CLOSED….

Nature...Rocks!

I just rolled into Arlington, Tx. for sales calls tomorrow in Dallas, and then Tuesday in Fort Worth. I thought I'd share some pix with ya. I took this rare shot on one of my hunting trips. I love it. That chukkar was praying, I promise! (And with good cause - he lived!)

Decisions Decisions Decisions

As you know if you’re a regular reader, I’ve accepted a job, and started last week. This job will be sweet. All is going well and I’m starting to settle in. All of the guys I work with are great, and excited about me joining the company. I've had nothing but 100% support.

I had multiple offers, and as such, I had to formally turn those down. Each and every one of them. One company is still after me, and I met with their Senior VP today. I went in with every intention of telling them I’m done, and to leave me alone.

Hearing the VP's vision for the company has me thinking, though. I think I’m supposed to stay where I am at this major service company. But dang, when a Senior VP of a major public company tells you to write your own job description, and it will be a high profile position...do you know how inviting that is to a country gal like me?

Why do I do this to myself?? Arrrrrrrrrgh.

PS - Trey, I know you read this. Don't freak. I'm just debriefing.
