Sunset in My World - The Oilpatch

Here are some sunset shots I took last night coming home from Santa Fe. Check out the different colors of a single sunset, over a 30 minute period. Amazing stuff, that.

For those who don’t know, these are pumping units. They pump that there oil outa that ground, so you can have all this. I think that pumping units are beautiful machines.

Enjoy!

How many pumping units can you see in this picture?

I love how the sun is setting to the right of this Mark II pumping unit.
Sunset is almost done now. I love the blues and grays.

This is a conventional pumping unit. Aren't the colors absolutely beautiful?
Now you've had your science lesson, with a smidgeon of fluid mechanics, and if you read the link, end product analysis!

Resveratrol Ultra and Demapril - Ask Carla!

Okay.

I fall for it. You know, the wrinkles ad. The one on the sidebar of Facebook that says “Lose 20 years of Wrinkles”. And I have to click.

You know, if you’ve used Facebook, you’ve seen it. It's on the right sidebar of your screen.
Go ahead. Click on it. You too can “Learn the secret of a mom who combined two products to eliminate her wrinkles for good.”

I check it wherever I am. And I’ve proved it. If I’m at home, the “mom” is named Carla. And she’s from Odessa. Sometimes, she’s from Midland. But she's always named Carla. She has a Dual State residency problem, obviously. BUT she always has 2 kids, is in a great marriage and considers herself a happy person. Oh, yeah. And she’s always 45. I guess that’s the acceptable age to see wrinkles and be sick of them.

If I’m in Denver or Dallas? The “mom” has a different name. But she’s in the same great marriage as Carla, and has the same kids, and is ALSO 45. I bet they have the same husbands, too. Because both of these ladies, amazingly, have a friend (probably married to the same guy!) named Becky that talked them out of plastic surgery and told them to use Resveratrol Ultra and Demapril.

Becky shore gets around. Makes me wonder why she’s not calling me and giving me free samples of this stuff. Carla says: “I was surprised by the results after the first 3 days – but once a week had passed I was totally blown away… I knew I was on to something special.”

I think I am on to something special, too...like a scam -but at least I know how to spell "Barbara Walters", who is listed alongside their ad, presumably to give credence to their product. (They spell it "Barbera Walters". Makes me feel really secure about getting their "free" product.)

This could be a good product and I could be missing out on a wrinkle-free face with my own before and after pictures. Y’all try it and let me know. Okay? (God. I hope it works.)

And Emily Post Turns Over In Her Grave

Saturday night I went to eat with family friends. These friends have two adorable children, a girl age 7(I’ll call her Belle) and a boy age 1 ½(I’ll call him Crash). These kids are seriously funny. Belle is elegant, prissy, but not afraid to get dirty, already a heck of a hunter as well as a serious basketball player. Crash is all boy, but flirty and funny, too. Both kiddos are sweet, smart as whips and function well around adults.

We’re through eating, visiting, and all of a sudden, Crash sits up straight in his high chair. He has this look of surprise on his face, says something (we’re not sure what) and points to his bottom. We laugh, and so does Crash.

Mom: Hey, Crash. Need to go to the bathroom?

Crash shakes his head no, and goes on playing, sticking a chopstick into one of those square pretzels, then popping the pretzel into his mouth. He’s pretty dang good at it.

The conversation quickly morphs to how loud Crash’s burps are. Belle is avidly describing just how gross her little brother can get, all the while laughing. She laughs so hard, we all laugh. And then we hear it. And it is LOUD. And LOOOOOONG.

“Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!”

Mom, Dad, and I all turn to look at Crash, who looks at us, like, “What?”. And then, it hits us. That sound emanated from Belle.

We look at Belle, and she’s got this surprised look on her elegant little face, but is half smiling, too. Mom and I look at each other, and start that silent shaking laughter, you know, the kind that is so strong, it hurts? Tears are flowing down our faces. Belle starts laughing, Dad starts laughing, and finally, Crash decides he’ll join in, too.

Lord. You can’t pay for entertainment like this.

Holy Crapola, Wonderdog!

I came home from work today, hauling in tons of clothes from the cleaners.  I opened the door, and out bounded Zack the Wonder Dog.  He was wayyyyy too happy to see me, and I knew it.  He was trying to tell me something.

As I crossed the threshold of my front door, I figured out why.

Zack had accidents.  And yes, I mean accidents, in the plural.  Of the poopy, runny kind.

Have I told y’all that our house is 100% tiled, and there is a reason for it?  Well, it’s the dogs.  Not because of accidents, but because it’s easier to clean up the hair they shed and the mud they track in.  Zack has had one prior accident in this house, and by no means was it accidental.  He was getting back at me for putting a dog kennel in my truck and leaving without him in it.  Zack somehow knew I was going to pick up another puppy, and paid us back in spades. Today, this wasn’t the case - it seems he had an upset stomach.

My dog is a cultured dog, however.  Then, and now, he picked his places to poop.  And, again, yes, I mean places.

We have a huge brown and white sculptured zebra rug under our dining room table.  it is beautiful.  Zack must have had a desire to keep within the color scheme, if you know what I mean.

ThatManILove called me and told me he was heading home.  I started cleaning more furiously, hoping against hope to have it all done within the hour.  As I clean, I find more and more poop.

For the last hour, I have been crawling around with the Oxy-Clean and wet rags and cleaning up poop stains from my rug.  I’ve had to use an old toothbrush to get some of it up.  And to top that, ThatManILove just came in from the field after a 36 hour day with no sleep, and he’s running the FloorMate (Oh, let me count the ways I love him?  He won’t let me do that, he thinks he’s the FloorMate King.)

All the while, Zack...sleeps.  Snoring and snuffling.  On the big sectional couch. You see, all is well in his world. He has his masters attending to his every desire.

A dog’s life is as it should be.  Lord help me quick, where’s the Febreze?
