Flower Power Baby

FTD is going to freakin’ hate me for this one. Do you love getting flowers from that one you love?

I do, and yet, I don’t. Gifts, such as flowers, sometimes make me go all weird. Is that the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard? Here’s a supposed basis concerning the flowers (supposed because I really don’t know what it’s about. If Freud were alive, he’d probably analyze the hell out of this shit, seriously.

Here's my thinking: Flowers die. They’re cut. They will die, no matter what you do to them, so - if they are given as a representation of love, what then? (See what I mean?) I know,  it's really probably that X does not equal Y. Does that mean the love behind the flowers will die? Make no mistake. I love, love, love flowers...when they are growing. Specifically, when they are growing in the ground. And blooming. My very bestest favorite flower? Birds of Paradise. Unfortunately, it doesn’t grow in West Texas. Maybe that’s my problem.

This weirdness of mine really doesn’t bother ThatManILove. He spoils me rotten, he just makes super sure what gift I want. Before he buys it. And guns/hunts/puppies are always winners.

Y’all think I might have a little control problem?

No - nothing is more depressing to me than a room of dead flowers.

Give me a potted plant any day.

Guns?

Remind me to head your way when the crapolla really, really hits the fan.

Really.

Hey Janie, I don't think it's weird that you don't care for cut flowers. Would potted flowers make your heart melt?

I like fowers and I'm just as happy if John gives me flowers from the grocery store that are $5 as a dozen roses, maybe even more so.

I don't like getting flowers either and for the same reason. I think it's a waste to give someone something that they can only enjoy a few days. That's my cheap uhm...er...thrifty side.

I keep flowers from FTD until they dead... absolutely, positively dead, falling off the stem, crunchy and dry dead. Then I admire them for another week...

And you think you have a problem?

Hey Janie, We are having a blizzard in Western Ks tonight.
My beautiful daffodils and crocus are toast!
I get a gun almost every year for Christmas, trouble is, I never et to shoot "that one!" Ha

Lord can you imagine if my hubby gave me a gun? Y'all would certainly have to bail me out - and find me a good lawyer.

But I am so with you on the flowers. They are gorgeous, but plant me a garden, don't cut and therefore kill them. What a waste of both beauty and money.

I never understood it either - but then I'm a bloke and so I always assumed I wasn't meant to.

High maintenence, maybe?! I am the same way. Plus I always think I could have done ____ with that $75 he spent on flowers.

I have the same problem that Jill has...I always think how much more I could have done with the money. And I LOVE flowers too! There are times when I'd love to just sell flowers on the street corner somewhere. ;-)
