Here we go again.
ThatManILove has received a work assignment in the Bakken Shale in North Dakota. (Why doesn't my industry drill wells in Hawaii?)
So, Thanksgiving morning will find us flying to Denver to spend a couple of days together before he flies up to the beautiful land of North Dakota for his first gig. And it could become sort of his home away from home, like Pennsylvania did last year. One thing's good - he has his cold weather clothes from Pennsylvania. I think it snows in North Dakota!
We’re staying at the Magnolia Hotel Denver . The good thing about booking a hotel on Thanksgiving? They’re having a special! We’re staying in their top room for around $150 per night, and it’s a boutique hotel.
I LOVE it when we find deals like that. I'll post pix, I promise!
I’ll be back home Sunday night - a friend is keeping our dogs and housesitting - and all is well with my world.
Except it’s 10:30 p.m. and I’ve not packed a thing. And our flight is at 7:30 a.m.
Such is mi vida loca!
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
And...happy trails, until we meet again!

Bakken Shale sounds like a good name for a rock band.

We always stay at the Brown Palace but it's been quite a while now since we've been there. The Magnolia looks wonderful!
Wait! Did you buy him some Under Armour before he went? He's sure gonna need it.
Our daughter was once offered a soccer scholarship in Minot, N.D. but when she heard what the outside temp was (16 degrees below zero wind chill) there in April, she politely declined the offer. Must be why she lives in L.A. Haha.
Janie Girl,
Loved the Magnolia! Stayed there when I was in Denver a couple of months ago. Even the folks at the Starbucks are cool.
Hope you had a super holiday!
:o)
He's going to need his armstrong heater in NOrth DAkota mighty cold there yipes sandy
Have a lovely holiday (kind of) together.
I wish you a lovely time together.
Hi, it's a great blog.
I could tell how much efforts you've taken on it.
Keep doing!
I'm here visiting from Vodkamom's blog! I hope that you've had a great Thanksgiving!! The hotel sounds terrific.
oh lucky you!! i hope the magnolia treated you well and that you had a nice time in Denver (I grew up there). They have oil in North Dakota??? who knew?? :-)
welcome home!!
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! My parents stay in a hotel when they come here for holidays and always get a super deal, too.
They say that the Bakken Shale has more oil than Saudi Arabia..ya it snows there usually sidways too..and every day the wind blows. It ought to be a real experience for that man that you love. Did you know that sometimes they say that in North Dakota you can watch your dog run away from home for three days?? Oh I can hardly wait to hear the fifty below zero stories. In Minnesota at least we have trees..:)
I got to your blog via Georgie's Secret Santa project and I noticed you and your husband are oilfield people from Midland.
Our company has assets in the Bakken Shale. It is quite a story but this time of year it is very cold. Going up there this time of year is a hit or miss deal depending on the weather.
Take care and have a Merry Christmas.
