Whiny Whiny Whiny

I’m having a hard time blogging these days, for a myriad of reasons.  I even have considered closing the blog, since I’m not being as faithful as I was before.  But I know I'd miss y'all!!

My industry, oil and gas, is taking a hard, hard hit these days, as are lots of industries.  All of my friends and some of my coworkers have been laid off.  The lucky ones have taken reductions in pay.  It’s depressing, and as some of you know, my job is finding people jobs!  Argggggh!  It's hard to do when everyone has basically stopped drilling/completing wells.

I keep a smile on my face, and keep beating the streets (salesman talk!) to try to find opportunities for people.  When I get home, I’m wiped out, and don’t want to go anywhere or visit with anyone.

Workwise, I’m trying to deal with things I can affect.  Industry meetings; introductions; taking care of business to the best of my ability.  Homewise, same thing.  My husband, my family, my wonder dogs.  I really have lots to be thankful for, and I am thankful.

Another thing I’ve taken on is a diet, starting today.  Wish me well.  It’s hard to diet when 1/2 of your job is taking people out for meals!  But I’m determined.

I’ll be in a wedding this weekend in the DFW area.  From all accounts, it’s going to be a beautiful one.  The daughter of my friend, Suzan, is getting married.  And it’s going to be a big shindig.  And I have to speak at the wedding.  I know what I want to say, and I’m trying to put it together in a clear, concise way, keeping it short and sweet.  I plan on fine-tuning it tomorrow.  If I get it down, I’ll share it with you after the wedding.  I believe that what I want to say has been the very foundation for ThatManILove’s and my marriage...though I wasn’t able to identify it until some years ago.  It’s such a God deal.

Anyway, if you wonder why I’ve not been trekking around your blogs as much, now you know I’ve been working myself to exhaustion.

And you know, girls just gotta have fun!!

The economy sucks! We are all feeling it.

Good luck with the D-word and with the shindig in DFW! I would miss you terribly if you stopped blogging. I love reading a west texan!

Sometimes life just stinks. . . but we can still be grateful none-the-less. . .

And why not start your diet after the wedding????

Perhaps, in this economy, people need you more than ever. This is when it's more important than ever to look for the positive side of things. Even if you have to turn over every single rock...Dean Martin once said "leave your troubles by the doorstep and if your lucky someone will come along in the night and steal them."
Good luck on your diet. I'm dieting also...it was a rough Easter weekend but I'm back on track. Two steps forward and one step back will still get me there...

I'm back on the diet track myself. So hard to do when you're a stress eater. Good luck and enjoy the wedding, looking forward to pictures.

I understand about not feeling like blogging. I go through that pretty often. But then, out of the blue, something inspires me and I blog for days. Just take a break. It'll come back to you. Bad times at work affect all areas of our lives. I'm still baffled about my own job being eliminated, but I'm fine. Just a little unsure what to do with myself.

We'll be here when you are. Have a good time in the Big D. There's nothing like a Dallas wedding.

I'm with you. On all counts. You know that right?

We'd miss you if you closed down. Glad you're able to take a break instead.

Definitely feeling the economy in the legal field, too. Know that sense of an industry on the brink of collapse and how draining that is every day.

I'm so sorry for your stress! Hubs is in the financial world. I so feel your pain, my dear. Third round of lay offs coming June. Sigh.

Just watched the weather - greater DFW is going to be beautiful this weekend. Come on down and relax - have a margarita, we do them very well :-)

(I can't believe I haven't been following you!! Error corrected.)

Now I feel especially privileged because you've been over to my place several times recently. Good luck with the diet -- I've been on one since January, and have lost a grand total of 2.5 pounds. Having a lot of trouble kicking the sweets this time....

This economy is sucking the life out of most of us. Take care of yourself and have fun this weekend. I'll be around should you want to stop by and visit.....or move in....or just cook dinner. Your choice. :)

Dieting here too. I hate it. But I hate being fat more. Sigh.

I definitely know what you mean about having the time to visit everyone's blog that I want to. It just seems like I can't do it as much as I use to. I hate it too because I really miss everyone. I would hate it if you quit too.

I wish the economy would get back on track. Every week there is rumors at hubby's work that there will be lay offs. Sigh again.

Hope you have a good time at the wedding!

As you know, we're all feeling it here. Hubby just paid last year's taxes (you know... from when the $$ were still rolling in), so I can't begin to tell you what he's been like. Argh! I told him I'm not riding the bus to go to the store & that's that. Aaaaaaargh!

Call me & we'll go somplace LITE for lunch next week. My middle has thickened way more than I'd have liked. Maybe from being on the computer too much! Let's walk or something. Oh wait. You're like a foot taller than me... I'd have to run to keep up. Nevermind!

Have fun @ the wedding & start the stinkin' diet when you get back...

Red or white? Are you done being whiny yet? I certainly hope so. Take a break..if you need but for our sanity don't just disappear.
I am looking forward to hearing your speech..
My daughter is in the Fort Worth Area this week at convention or gathering of students and she is an advisor..so she will be trapsing around with two 20 year old girls in tow. I think she said Grape Vine at some posh resort. I get nervous when my youngins are in a different state than me:)

No reason to leave...just take a break whenever you need, we'll wait! You have too much to share and too many of us neeeeeed you. :-) I feel very badly for those of you in the oil bidness...the swings this past year must be taking a terrible toll. And you work waaay too hard to have to suffer economically! God bless you, Janie.
