Community of Bloggerly Love

It’s been a week since I posted. The week has blown by.

When I was laid off, though I had some warning of the possibility, I was in shock. And then I guess I went through maybe a period of anger. I’m a producer - a rainmaker; to think that I would ever make anyone’s RIF list was devastating to me.

I don’t yet have a job, but companies have started contacting me and negotiations are beginning. That’s exciting, and I’m so blessed. It seems that in this market, none of the jobs possibilities have come through recruiters...they have come through connections. None are posted on a job board, and it seems that a couple have even been custom fit for me. Is that crazy? Nah. That, my friends, would be God.

By my side remains ThatManILove. And from him, and other people who speak into our lives, came wisdom.

“We need to be quiet,” he said. After consulting with our friends, we decided on a period of two weeks. And then he said, “We need to get out of here for a bit.” And as you know, we did such. And it was the very best thing.

The talk concerning my layoff was rampant within my industry. The fact that I got laid off actually scared some of my peers - if it could happen to me, it could happen to them. I pray that is not the case. Anyway, I kept away from industry events, fundraisers, etc., in order to stay quiet.

While we were gone to Ruidoso, ThatManILove said, “Don’t be surprised if it takes 3-4 weeks for the right opportunity to rise up around us - let’s just wait and see.” He is so wise. Because that is exactly what is happening.

And you all - you have been so supporting. E-mailing and calling me, checking up on me, being faithful to comment, making me laugh and letting me cry. Also, you've reminded me that this is no big deal and that there are certainly worse things that this storm! I'm blessed with and without a "job", and that I am NOT a "job". Thank you so much - you continue to be my friends throughout.

I will not forget.

Ah, Janie, we love you girl....and ThatManYouLove :) He sounds like a very wise man indeed. I love that he said "stay silent," and then "pull away." Wise words, and look at the result....beautiful :) God does help those who help themselves, but only those who help themselves in a dignified way....well done, my lovely...

I mean damn, I have to say, amid this loud and chaotic and grabbing and demanding noisy world where the materialists rule and money is god, I am so happy to see someone listening to the Lord in their heart and acting properly....seriously well done, my friend...x

Yay Janie! It'll happen when it's time - and it will be right. Blessings - Cherie.
ps-when I saw you at the farmers market - you must know I was kidding about you being out of bed so early! You're the only person I know who can pull it together enough to walk into a meeting at 6:30am with a bag of breakfast and a smile!!! (good grief.)

Getting laid off last fall was one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I constantly hear, "You look so happy," and "You look 10 years younger."

Sounds like, for you, this was an opportunity to demonstrate to yourself just how valued and respected you are in your industry.

I have a few things I'd like to talk about with ThatManILove.

I need a little life-coach advice.

How does ThatManWeLove sound???

It's great to see the Phoenix rising up out of the ashes! You needed a break and I'm glad that you and TMYL were wise enough to do just that. Looking forward to hearing what the next Janie Girl adventure will be!

Sometimes it's good to not have a job. To regroup, think, take time for oneself. I learn more about myself when I don't work than when I do.

I haven't had a real job since the 80's so you'd think I'd be REALLY pulled together by now, right?

Janie, I don't know you from Eve. I have never met you. And yet, I feel that I have read enough about you to honestly say, that you have gone through worse. You wouldn't be where you are today if you hadn't. Your post about the difference in the look on your son's face before and after the big "d" hit home hard with me. If that didn't knock you down for the count, how could losing a job do it.

Good luck and hold tight to your family.

You are most definitely not a job. This will probably turn out to be a blessing in disguise. There's nothing braver than imagining a life that's different from the one you've known. Whether you stay in this field or strike out in a new one, it's a step forward because it's a step out of the past.

Love ya, Lady!

So often, it's WHO you know, not some random recruiting thing. All will work out as it should, and these things do take time, so be patient.

Hugs,

I am so happy to read that you are doing ok now. It does take a bit to get your feet back on the ground. Charlie is having some difficulties, too, right now and it's tough out there. You know how it is in this biz - feast or famine. The famine isn't so fun.

Hang tight. I know something is out there just for you right around the corner.

I have NEVER gotten a job through connections. All of them have come through endless resumes forwarding... But in this environment, connections are the way to go. There just aren't any jobs out there. I'm so glad that things are going your way. This economy is awful!

Well, I was wondering where you had been, but then I've been gone some too, so I'm not sure why the heck I was wondering, LOL!

That man you love is very wise indeed. All good things come to those who wait, right? Well, I sure do hope so. You're far too savvy to stay out of the loop for long. There is some company out there that just doesn't realize how much they need you yet...

Trusting in the Lord is always a good thing.
