Oh, Rotorooter Man!!!

MLH came home about 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon from a Friday through Sunday 24 hour-a-day job in the field, having only slept in the truck on location. We were both exhausted, but at some point, he decided to make us breakfast for late lunch/supper. We were cleaning up, and I noticed…water on the floor. At first, I thought the ZZ crew had spilled their bowl, but no, that wasn't it, at all! Something was leaking under the sink.

Into repair mode we go…and find that some critter has chewed a hole in the R.O. water line. Lovely. Out comes the wet vac, MLH pulls all the drawers out of the sink cabinets, pulls out the dishwasher and the refrigerator – because all are encased in custom cabinets built personally by MLH. An hour later, all is well, the fan is blowing, and we are glad we didn’t call the plumber on a Sunday – it really was such a small job. We then go to bed, and sleep well, knowing all is good in our house.

I wake up at 2:30 a.m. this morning, with indigestion. I’m looking everywhere for antacids. I walk into the kitchen as a last resort, and realize Zack and Zoie are quietly padding behind me. I turn around to quietly greet them, and turn back to my task, and before I know it, I’m standing in water.

Deep water. Flowing water. And, it’s cold.

I turn on the light, grab some towels out of the laundry room, throw them on the floor and go wake MLH.

You have to know - He. Was. So. Excited.

Rerun of last night, except for one thing – we find we caused this leak by nicking a line sometime during last night’s repair job. And in the morning, as soon as we wake up, we’re calling the plumber. Translate that to Janie’s calling the plumber, because MLH has to be in the field early.

Yeehah!!

First, I have to get to sleep.

It's never boring around here!

Oh yeah! We're all married to men, lol. My hubby is AT LONG LAST beginning to understand that every time he tries to fix something, it winds up costing us more than if we'd called a repairman from the start. We just had the Roto-Rooter man last month. Tell him I said hello... no, let him suffer, the bastard.

Gak! I'm so sorry! I hate, hate, hate plumbing problems. Water can be so pervasive in its devastation. Glug. :-(

Snooty - rofl. You crack me up, girl. Have fun in sunny CA!

Gwynne, isn't that the truth? I'd much rather be in the water around Seattle!!

There really is not a whole lot worse than stepping barefoot into something wet in the wee hours.

Or something wee in the wet hours.

Your husband's a lucky man that you have such a good sense of humor about it.

Girl...I know this is a PAIN! But believe me...it could be worse. A recent experience in Seminole:
Granddaughter starts bathwater. (room upstairs)..decides to lay down while tub fills. Goes to sleep. Water runs all night. Ceiling falls in. Carpets soaked. Tile buckled. Be thankful!

Presbyterian Gal - I know, he does have a great sense of humor.

Inspired - the ceiling fell in? Oh, Lordy....I'm glad no one was hurt!!! Yup, I got off easy.

Plumbing stuff. Yuck. On the bright side, who knew indigestion could be a good thing?

I hope all is patched today?

Emma - all good! And only $135, thank God!

Sounds like you and MLW are in the same peril. We just had counter tops replaced, a couple of days later the kitchen sink valve starts leaking, by the time she noticed it, the water had already ran into the living room and ruined (warped) the Pergo floor. (Meanwhile I am stuck at the rig, this job was supposed to be 14 days has turned into a month long with still only a very small light at the end of the tunnel.) The neighbor came over and shut off the water, so being spring break MLW came and spent a couple of days at the rig. We also are selling one of our other houses and are trying to get the AC replaced to pass inspection before the closing this week. I or MLW feels your pain. LOL

OTIM, oh, wow, what a pain that had to be!! I hope it's all worked out now - my ordeal was way less hassle than what all y'all have gone through!

What rig are you working? Are you in the Permian Basin?

I am a fellow Midlander.

I guess I will finally get to change the flooring when I get home, I never really like that fake wood anyway, only question now is to use real wood or ceramic tile?

Choosing flooring is never fun...there is too much to choose from! I HATE that part, really I do.
